I mean no disrespect when I say this Connor, but didn’t you recently say it was okay to make fun of all fat people for the way they look? Slightly hypocritical, IMO. Not that I’m saying it’s okay to make fun of this boy for the way he looks, not at all. The exact opposite, in fact.

As a matter of fact, it’s completely different. This boy is obviously disabled, in some way, or if not, he still has very unfortunate genes. In most cases, obesity* is not genetic; it is caused by over self-indulgence. It is something that can be prevented and / or cured. 

If you had read the rest of my post instead of doing, what seems like the majority of people did, and just reading the part concerning obesity, then you would of realized the core of my point was to prevent people making fun of others who have faults in their psychology and / or physical appearance which can not be prevented or cured.

I only comment on people’s weight if their personality is rather crude, and they deserve it. The difference is, even if a disabled person was cruel, I wouldn’t pick on their disability as a means of insulting them.

In essence, what I’m saying, is mockery over obesity is COMPLETELY different from mocking someone because of their genetic make-up.

*Also, a little note, and read this, people, before you flare up: A PERCENTAGE of the time it’s said person’s fault because they’re obese. There are plenty of cases where it’s caused by depression and glandular problems, which in that case, is 100% not their fault.

But one could argue nonetheless that you’re being a hypocrite. In recent times strong links have been found between genetics and obesity, or so called “hereditary obesity.” I’m not saying that’s true of all people who’re overweight, but it’s true of some. Would you still, knowing that, use that against somebody? 

The more liberal, less scientific mind could argue that using somebody’s physical appearance against them, disabled or not, is simply cruel and unjust. We’ve all done it, but it doesn’t make it right. 

I doubt we’re going to agree on this subject at all, and I shan’t even attempt to, but I find somebody who essentially says “let’s make fun of fat people, they don’t look as nice as thin people” and goes on to say “don’t make fun of him because of the way he looks (disabled or not)” a hypocrite. 

I’m hardly thin myself. If you met me and we didn’t get on, would you turn round to Brad and say “your friend is a fat fuck” and then laugh and point and jeer? 

Perhaps you just can’t understand what something like that does to a person’s self-confidence. 

I’m not going to argue with you. You have your opinion, I have mine.
